Siman Povarenkin Participates in Official Yakutia Delegation to Great Britain

13 October 2011, Moscow

GeoProMining (“GPM” or “the Company”), a diversified international mining group, announced that a member of its board of directors, Siman Povarenkin, participated in the visit of the official delegation from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to Great Britain, which lasted from the end of September until the beginning of October 2011. The main goal of the visit was to attract the attention of international investors to the economic potential of the republic.

The official delegation from the Republic of Sakha was led by the president of the Republic, Yegor Borisov. Other participants included representatives of the government and other officials, as well as regional business leaders. As one of the delegation’s speakers, Siman Povarenkin gave a presentation on the investment potential of Yakutia to the members of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce. The presentation was concluded with the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

The delegation also held a meeting with the extraordinary and plenipotentiary Russian ambassador to Britain, Alexander Yakovenko, for a discussion on the investment climate in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In addition, the delegation held a presentation at the London Stock Exchange on the economic potential of the republic: after the presentation, representatives of the British business community were invited to participate in the development of investment projects in Yakutia.

“Yakutia is a region, which on the one hand has great economic potential, but on the other hand is not well known internationally. I was particularly pleased to be able to participate in the presentation on the considerable opportunities which the region offers to international investors. Through our own experience in Yakutia as GPM, we have clearly seen and benefited from the significant potential of this fast developing region,” said Mr. Povarenkin.

GPM is interested in the further development of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Great Britain: the company is a member of Business Council of the Russian Ambassador to Great Britain. One of the main goals of the Business Council is the expansion of regional collaboration between the two countries.
