14 February 2013, Yerevan

GeoProMining, a diversified international mining group (GPM or the Company), has started active preparations for the second year of its student scholarship programme. The project is part of its corporate social responsibility programme Resources for Good aimed to ensure the sustainable development of the group in the regions of its presence. This year new six students from graduating classes have been selected in Vardenis, Agarak and Ararat towns and have already begun an intensive training which enables them to successfully pass all final and entrance exams.

“I still cannot believe I study at one of the best technical universities in Russia. We have received a unique opportunity: we study with the best teachers, have a rich collection of research materials at our disposal, new laboratories, as well are already involved in industrial workshops. For me being a programme participant is a big responsibility and I will do my best to justify this trust and become a professional expert,” said a participant of the program, a student of St. Petersburg Mining University Garegin Ghazaryan.

“Skilled personnel is a key component for our success. As a long-term investor in Armenia GeoProMining pays careful attention to the selection of staff: we are interested in professional and committed personnel. We are very enthusiastic about developing this training programme for students because we are sure that this initiative will help us resolve HR issues and countrywide it will help to reduce the outflow of the workforce opening up new employment prospects for youth in the regions of Armenia,’’ said the president of GeoProMining Roman Khudoliy.

In 2012 GeoProMining with the support of Embassy of Russia in Armenia has launched a training programme for Armenian students in leading Armenian and Russian universities in the field of mining. After training GeoProMining will employ young specialists in its enterprises in Armenia. The first five participants are already studying at the Plekhanov St. Petersburg State Mining Institute and the Yerevan State University. GeoProMining provides these students with accommodation, airfare, medical insurance as well as monthly scholarship.
