GeoProMining contributes to social and economic development of Yakutia

Yakutia-based company of GeoProMining, a diversified international mining group, Zvezda is co-financing the construction of a secondary school in Boronuk village of the Verkhoyansk region of Sakha Republic (Yakutia). This project has been chosen for 2013 as part on the company’s Resources for Good corporate social responsibility programme.
GeoProMining is implementing its social policy in Yakutia in the format of municipal-private partnerships with the local municipal administration. This approach is recommended by the Yakutian Government and helps the company to contribute effectively to social and economic development of the region.
Over the year of its operations in Yakutia GeoProMining has realized several large social projects: construction of a sports centre in the Bala settlement of the Arylakh Nasleg, setting up paleontological museum in the Betenkes settlement, organizing table tennis tournament for schoolchildren in Oymyakon Ulus. The company also regularly supports the Ust-Nera Orphanage and the Khomenko School in Ust-Nera.
“We are a socially responsible company and we are pleased to contribute to the social and economic growth of the region. This particular format of municipal-private partnerships provides us with effective tools to address the needs of the local communities. Development of social infrastructure is a priority of our Resources for Good programme in Yakutia given the regional specifics,” said GPM President Roman Khudoliy.
