Armenian and Iranian ministers of energy visited Agarak Mine Complex

8 November 2012, Agarak

The Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Mine Complex, part of diversified international mining group GeoProMining, hosted Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Armen Movsisyan and Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namdzu. The official delegation reviewed the results of the complex’s modernization, in particular, the reconstruction of the water recycling system.

The introduction of closed recycling system at the Agarak Plant will completely prevent waste water from getting into the surrounding territories, including boundary river Araks. The system will also significantly reduce the amount of water used in production cycle. The project budget is USD4.5 million.

In 2009-2012 the production facilities of the Agarak Complex have undergone a comprehensive upgrade and the company reached a processing capacity of 3.5 million tons of ore per year. The complex located in the most southern city of Armenia – Agarak produces copper and molybdenum concentrate.
